General English Language Courses
The Woolwich College is a dynamic private College located in Barnard Close, Woolwich. We provide a stimulating and friendly learning environment in which our students can maximise their potential and achieve their academic and professional goals.
We have General English courses to suit everyone with courses starting every week of the year. You can study any length of time from 1 to 48 weeks and choose the best timetable for you. We offer both morning and afternoon classes.
Who is the course for?
If you want to improve your general English, are free on weekday mornings and your level of English is at any level from Elementary up to Advanced level, this is the course for you. The course is an intensive 15 hour a week and can rapidly develop speaking, reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. You will work on the English language, with grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, communication and fluency tasks.
With a maximum number of 15 students per class, you will receive lots of individual attention but also have lots of opportunities to practice the new language with your classmates.
General English Course Objectives
Our General English courses are designed to improve your English across the main skill range: Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing. In addition to this, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, communication and fluency are also built into your General English course. Teacher feedback and progress monitoring are also included to help you monitor your performance and guide you to the next stage of learning, whether for examinations or for specific purposes.
Certificates
Although not accredited, you will receive a certificate after 60 hours on your course, upon successful completion of the course, and given 80% course attendance.

There are no entry requirements for this course
- Photo ID (Passport or Driver’s License)
- Proof of Address (dated in the last 3 months)
- Visa Status either a British Passport, BRP (Biometric Residence Permit) which is dated for after the end of the course duration or a Share Code (if you are from Europe)
- NI Number (National Insurance Number) or right to work in the UK documentation
- Certificates of your previous qualifications (qualifications from abroad must be converted)
- UK Naric statement of comparability (for converted qualification from abroad)
- Up to date CV (Curriculum Vitae)
- Health Declaration (This is a letter written and signed by you which states that you are fit, healthy and have no medical conditions/disabilities which will affect your completion of the course)
Self-Funded (Bank Transfer, Direct Debit or Credit Card)
No, if you require a student visa to study in the UK or you are a tier 4 student, we cannot accept you as we do not have the license. We can only accept UK and EU students or those with settlement status (indefinite leave to remain) here in the UK
All students must be 18 and over to study here at The Woolwich College
