COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Pearson BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Healthcare Practice offers students a broad introduction to the subject area via a mandatory core of learning, while allowing for the acquisition of skills and experience through specialist pathways and the selection of optional units across a range of occupationally-relevant subjects at level 4.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND SUITABILITY
- As part of the qualification students will be required to cover a minimum of 75 hours in a
work placement. - Students will also need to have GCSE grades A* to C and/or 9 to 4 (or equivalent) in subjects
such as English and Maths or a BTEC Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care (or
related subject) - *BKSB assessments available at a small fee
QUALIFICATION DELIVERY
The qualification is delivered via blended learning, through a range of different methods such as in person classes, live online classes and interactive webinars, which are supported with expert learning resources and an e-portfolio. Each student is assigned a personal assessor from our highly experienced faculty. Along with dedicated tutors, assessors and IQAs, our classes also give students the opportunity to discuss their studies with other learners whilst receiving advice, guidance, and support from an experienced health care professional.

ASSESSMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Pearson BTEC Higher Nationals in Healthcare Practice are assessed using a combination of internally assessed centre-devised internal assignments (which are set and marked by centres) and internally assessed Pearson-set assignments (which are set by Pearson and marked by centres). Pearson-set assignments are mandatory and target particular industry-specific skills.

The Level 4 Higher National Certificate provides a solid grounding in Healthcare practice, which students can build on should they decide to continue their studies beyond the certificate stage.

We have a very good success rate of placing students in a work placement but this isn’t always guaranteed. We will try to place you within an hour’s travel distance from your home
It’s down to the employer’s discretion. This is something you can discuss during your interview process

Students need to have English and Maths at GCSE level or equivalent (Level 2 qualification) whether this is from the UK or EU. All qualifications from abroad need to be translated into English before the student can enrol
If you do not have English and Maths at GCSE level or equivalent (Level 2 qualification) we do provide BKSB assessments in English and Maths (at a small fee) to cover this requirement
Students must also have a Health & Social Care level 3 qualification or related subject

- Proof of Address (dated in the last 3 months)
- Visa Status either a British Passport, BRP (Biometric Residence Permit) which is dated for after the end of the course duration or a Share Code (if you are from Europe)
- NI Number (National Insurance Number) or right to work in the UK documentation
- Certificates of your previous qualifications (qualifications from abroad must be converted)
- UK Naric statement of comparability (for converted qualification from abroad)
- Up to date CV (Curriculum Vitae)
- Health Declaration (This is a letter written and signed by you which states that you are fit, healthy and have no medical conditions which will affect your completion of the course)
- Character References (A testimony written by the referee would be preferred, it would also need to include their Job title, contact number and email address. Please note that the referee cannot be a family member. This person must have known you for at least 6 months or more
- DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service)
There are a few other fees that are separate from the course fee. They are Deposit Fee and Awarding Body Registration Fee. There is also a fee for the BKSB Assessments:
- Deposit Fee is £400.00
- Pearson Awarding Body Registration Fee for Health & Social Care, Level 4 is £235.00
- BKSB English and Maths Assessments £50.00 (£25.00 individually)
